Eg Yaz Yef (/jaz/ /jef/ [humble; modest; shy] [ribbon]) is a subtropical Town located in Lêlelëko County, Dakyehgdew Kingdom, within the United Kingdom of Undermountain.

The name Eg Yaz Yef is derived from the Dwarven language, as Eg Yaz Yef was founded by Cave Scorpions Zÿhbafral, who was culturaly Dwarvern.

Climate

Eg Yaz Yef has a yearly average temperature of 17°C (62°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 9°C (48°F). Eg Yaz Yef receives an average of 282 cm/y (111 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Overview

Eg Yaz Yef was founded durring the late 9th century, by Cave Scorpions Zÿhbafral. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Eg Yaz Yef was built using the conventions of Dwarvern durring the late 9th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Eg Yaz Yef is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Eg Yaz Yef is is constructed arround a series of broad paverstone mainstreets which form concentric circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to each other at varrious points. The town is protected by a series of wooden fences ringing the town's parimiter, which are likly intended to keep varrious beasts out of town rather than protect it from attack by any intelegent agents. The town's bare minimum defences have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

Right off the bat Eg Yaz Yef hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things.

Civic Infrastructure

Eg Yaz Yef has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Eg Yaz Yef. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Eg Yaz Yef's parks.

Eg Yaz Yef has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Eg Yaz Yef.

Eg Yaz Yef has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Eg Yaz Yef has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Eg Yaz Yef has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Eg Yaz Yef's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Eg Yaz Yef possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Eg Yaz Yef's grid is powered by a god's will and kindness.

Eg Yaz Yef has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Eg Yaz Yef's natural decorations nor waterways.

Eg Yaz Yef has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Eg Yaz Yef has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Eg Yaz Yef is home to a University which provides higher education in a variety of fields, and also serves as a research institute for those same fields.

Cultural Notes

Eg Yaz Yef's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its buildings being predominantly formed through the combination of basic geometric shapes. However, it shown in the detailing given to the structures such as its characteristic tall columns, intricate detail, symmetry, harmony, and balance in their designs to an astonishing degree of precision. Decorative elements for the buildings tended to be built into the structure itself, making great use of fluting, frescoes, inlays, and embossing.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Eg Yaz Yef was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Eg Yaz Yef lost 298 people, 373 livestock, and 82 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 193, when members of Eg Yaz Yef's militia enacted an operation to recruit a specific religious figure. The operation was complicated by the enemy setting up an ambush. The conflict ended with an assault and siege on the production site, which ended in defeat for Eg Yaz Yef's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Eg Yaz Yef's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
